Chaplain

The process of appointing a School Chaplain is currently underway in association with Growing Faith.

Growing Faith is the movement that exists to put children, young people and families instinctively at the heart of all the mission and ministry of the Church by changing the culture of the Church of England.

It comes from the vision set by the House of Bishops and endorsed by General Synod in 2019. It involves churches, schools and households working together to help children, young people and families have life in all its fullness.

The Growing Faith Foundation seeks to benefit children and young people, helping them create the world they want to live in, specifically through the lens of the Christian faith.

Every Diocese has appointed one or more Growing Faith Champions to take forward the Growing Faith mission locally.

The Growing Faith Foundation is developing work in four main areas: Networks, Learning Hubs, Programmes and Research.

KICK

At St. Aidan’s we are privileged to have an employee working with us from KICK This is a Christian non-profit organization that partners with schools to provide values-based sports coaching, mentoring, and chaplaincy services to young people.

Mentoring is a crucial aspect of the work that takes place at St Aidan’s.  KICK uses the Solutions Focused approach in Mentoring to develop young people and see them find the solutions they need for the challenges they face in their bespoke situations. This builds upon the development of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).  According to Mark Beyerbach’s research in Spain, the approach not only increases a young person’s sense of self-efficacy but changes their thinking patterns at home as well as at school. This mentoring refocuses the attention on the pupils’ strengths and empowers them to make positive decisions for themselves.
